In an era of globalization, science and technology must be developed. Meanwhile, the administration has undertaken numerous initiatives aimed at raising educational standards. National education is critical to Indonesia's long-term existence, as the Ministry of National Education seeks to generate educated and productive Indonesians by 2025.
Media used in the classroom to teach students are known as "teaching materials," and they play an important role in the educational process. Delivering curriculum materials requires the use of teaching materials. In addition to serving as a source of information for students, instructional materials can also serve as a syllabus. Teachers are given instructional guidance in the form of teaching materials, which frees them from consulting the syllabus while on the job. Teachers' ability to teach effectively depends on the quality of the teaching materials they use. The National Education Standards Agency (BSNP) or the National Higher Education Standards (SNPT) and the present curriculum in higher education, notably the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework, must be taken into consideration when developing instructional materials (KKNI). The KKNI curriculum demands students to develop learning outcomes that explain the profiles of graduates who will be produced as a result of the study program in brief and in full. Learner outcomes refer to the internalization and accumulation of information gained through formal education or job experience in a particular sector of competence or knowledge [1]. Teaching aids make it easier for students to retain and practice scientific concepts, allowing them to reach the necessary level of competency [2]. Students are more likely to learn on their own if the materials they use are engaging and interactive [3]. Maximizing the use of educational materials allows students at various stages of development to study the full breadth of knowledge [4,5]. Education can be improved by providing better teaching resources and emphasizing character development [6,7]. Educators have found that the current teaching materials (textbooks) could require a lot of work, as the content isn't well-presented, systematic, or visually appealing, and the terminology used isn't uniform. As a result of this flaw, students may become bored and hence perform poorly in class [8]. There are still numerous books in circulation that are not standard, as evidenced by studies into the development of educational resources [9-11].
Internet technology is, of course, well-known in this day and age of rapid technological advancement. As a container for existing learning media, the internet can be used as a learning medium, or the internet itself can be transformed to support a learning process. One of these is a learning medium based on electronic learning (e-learning). Since the electronic learning module is easy to use and well accepted in the community, it is a popular e-learning option. In order to address the current issues, more e-learning programs should be created. E-books can help students stay motivated, lessen their reliance on others, and fulfill their learning goals, according to teacher-made learning tool indicators [12]. The chemistry e-book on salt hydrolysis generated was well received by students and efficiently used in learning [13]. After using the E book in biochemistry learning, students reported a considerable enhancement in their learning experience [14]. It has been found that students prefer multi touch e books since they help them better understand the material [15]. As one of the six KKNI curriculum responsibilities, developing e-modules that incorporate project-based learning models is essential if the curriculum is to remain current. Using a project-based learning approach, students can develop their critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration skills, as well as work together to solve real-world issues [16]. An excellent technique to teaching critical thinking, cognitive activity and creativity is project-based learning. [17-19]. The field of biotechnology is expanding at a breakneck pace at the moment. This development is supported by a wide range of variables. Enzyme research advancements are one factor. Students need to be made aware of the importance of this enzyme in order to keep up with the advancement of biotechnology.
